Troubleshooting Models & Providers

Fix missing models, connection errors, invalid API keys, and credit problems.

No Models Available

If the message box shows No Models Available, AgentOne doesn't have any model it can use. Do one of these:

  • Sign in to use AgentOne's model. Make sure Settings -> Account -> Hide AgentOne models is off.
  • Turn on a provider and add its API key in Settings -> Providers. See Built-in Providers.
  • Start a local model with Ollama or LM Studio, then restart AgentOne. See Local Models.

A Provider's Models Don't Appear

  • Check that the provider's switch is on in Settings -> Providers. A warning icon next to it means it has no API key.
  • If you see Model list missing, the model list hasn't downloaded yet. Go to Settings -> Help & Updates -> Model List and click Update now.
  • Make sure no filters are active in the model selector. The filter button shows how many filters are on.
  • For a model that's brand new, add it manually.

Account Setup in Progress

New accounts may show Account setup in progress for a few minutes while your credits are created. AgentOne's model starts working as soon as they appear. If it lasts longer than about 15 minutes, sign out and back in, or ask on Discord.

Error Messages

Errors from your own providers start with the provider's name, so you can tell where they came from.

ErrorWhat to try
Failed to connect to AI modelCheck your internet connection, then try again with Resume. For local models, make sure the server is running. Try a different model to see if the provider is down.
Invalid API keyCopy a fresh key from your provider and paste it into the provider's API Key field in Settings -> Providers. Make sure there are no extra spaces.
Unauthorized access to AI modelYour key may not have access to that model, or your provider account may need billing set up.
Only image files are supported by this modelRemove the attachment, or switch to a model that supports that file type.
You've used up your credits for this monthWait for your credits to reset, upgrade your plan, or switch to your own provider.
Model unavailableSwitch back to Default under AgentOne in the model selector.

Responses Stop Partway Through

  • Click Resume to continue from where it stopped.
  • If a long task keeps stopping, make sure Auto-Compact is on in the model configuration. See Long Chats & Compaction.
  • Check Max Steps and Max Tokens in the model configuration. If they're set, try clearing them.

The Usage Stats Show "Unknown"

AgentOne needs the model's context window and pricing from the model list. For custom or brand-new models, add the Context Window yourself in the provider's model settings.

Reasoning Shows "No reasoning content was provided"

The model reported that it was thinking but didn't share its thoughts. Some providers hide reasoning. This doesn't affect the answer.
