Managing Extensions
Sign in to extensions, set tool approvals, restart, turn off, and uninstall extensions.
To see only the extensions you've installed, open Extensions, click the filter button, and choose Only show installed.
Each installed extension shows:
- A switch to turn it on or off without uninstalling it.
- Its status, like Loaded successfully with 12 tools, Authentication required to load tools, or an error.
- A Restart button, handy after you change its settings or install a missing tool.
- Advanced settings for sign-in and approvals.
- Uninstall.
Status Messages
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Loaded successfully with N tools | Ready to use. |
| Starting / Connecting | AgentOne is starting the extension. |
| Connected, but no tools are available | The server is running but didn't offer any tools. You may need to sign in or configure it. |
| Authentication required to load tools | Sign in to the service. See below. |
| Login available for full access | It works now, but signing in unlocks more. |
| Error: ... | Something went wrong. See Troubleshooting Extensions. |
| Disabled | You turned it off. |
Signing In to an Extension
Many remote extensions, like Linear, Notion, and Canva, need you to sign in to your account with the service.
- Open the extension's Advanced settings.
- Next to the authorization status, click Connect.
- Your browser opens the service's sign-in page. Sign in and approve access.
- Return to AgentOne. The status changes to Connected.
To sign out, open Advanced and click Disconnect.
If you see "This server's authorization provider does not support automatic client registration," the service needs an API key or a manually created OAuth app instead. Check the service's MCP documentation, and add the key as an HTTP header or environment variable.
Tool Approvals
Extension tools run without asking by default. In the extension's Advanced settings you can:
- Turn on Require Approval By Default to ask before any of this extension's tools run.
- Open Per-tool approvals to set each tool to Approval required or No approval required. For example, you might allow "search issues" freely but require approval for "delete issue."
Click Save changes when you're done. A chat's Tool Behavior setting can override these: Always ask asks before every tool, and YOLO never asks.
Uninstall an Extension
Click Uninstall on the extension and confirm. To stop using an extension for a while without removing its settings, turn off its switch instead.
Dangling Extensions
When an extension in the registry gets a new version, your installed copy may no longer match anything in the list. These are called dangling extensions, and they may still be running in the background.
To clean them up, click the filter button and choose Find dangling extensions. Remove them one at a time, or click Remove all. Then install the latest version from the list.
